Canadian Parliamentary Guide

“This latest edition of the Canadian Parliamentary Guide is published the year of the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation. The text is in English and in French. This excellent research source contains more than 2,800 biographical sketches and begins with an introduction, a photo gallery of the Maclean’s Parliamentarians of the Year, an illustrated section of the history of Canada, including a timeline and maps; and the history of the Parliament of Canada. The bulk of the book follows, with biographical information of Queen Elizabeth II and senior members of the royal family; biographical information on the Governor General; and biographies of members of the Senate, Privy Council, House of Commons, and of those politicians representing the Provinces. Each biographical entry includes date of birth, education, political career, private career, address, phone number, fax number, email address, and projected date of retirement. Additionally, election results are included by provinces and districts. The appendixes are comprised of: Table of Precedence; Table of Titles; Acronyms and Abbreviations; Canadian Representatives Abroad; and Alma Maters. A Name Index is also provided. The Canadian Parliamentary Guide is a thorough source of information about Canada and its history and government. It is highly recommended to academic and larger public libraries. It can be used for ‘quick reference’ questions and as a starting point for research about Canadian history and politics.”
